Hurrah! Mum's gone and signed us up to host a foriegn exchange student from Europe for 5 months- and since the last exchange student I met was a hot, chain-smoking alcoholic with 'commitment issues' broadened my cultural horizons, this ought to be fun ^_^
We get a bundle of profiles every few days or so until we decide on the kid we want, who'll be going to school with Trish@PHS. Though the profiles are mostly full of useless information and bad grammar, they are in themselves a wonderful little window of cultural exchange. Now, assuming they represent a fair portion of 16-17yearolds in their countries of origin, I've discovered that:
-Half of all scandinavian teenagers have badminton as their favourite sport
-All guys taller than 5'6" have ADHD
-Roughly 1 in 6 girls from Norway suffer an allergy to fruit (eg. raw apples, peaches)
-All teenagers in northern Europe are 'Christian', but 'seldom' or 'never' go to church.
-Most kids in Europe think Australia is 'cooler' than the USA, and that it would be 'fun' to spend time in the outback
