Three sha'll be the number shalt count and the number of the counting shall be 3, no more, no less.....................5 IS RIGHT OUT!
It's Monty Python, you guessed it but I think its what movie companies have been watching and paying religious homage to that line from a movie with a million funny lines.
What I mean is trilogy's, movie trilogy's that movie companies are making,
movies that suck!
that use a title of a film that was good the first time round and then abuse and it squeeze every penny out of a name. Something akin to squeezing blood from a stone, or even beating a dead horse, whichever you prefer. For starters heres what they are from the holiday season:
Shrek 3 - lame
Pirates of the Caribbean 3 - could have been better
Diehard 4 - it counts as a sequel....
Spiderman 3 - Spider who?
These movies which have used a very if not perfect name that began something and have been ripped, torn and destoyed by the companies that spawned them.
WHY! why do they suck so much!? Do the just kick back and laugh at the fools who go to see these film's while they collect their 'laundy bags' with big $ signs on them and have money fights in the office? do they give the film to someone with a book titles 'trilogies for dummys'!? maybe they just like making bad movies? (quite possible)
These movies were poorly handled which is a shame considering the potential backing them on such a level beyond alot of movies. Gone are the days of GOOD original concepts that I wen't to the movies with a friend or partner paying an average fee for a movie which at the end of the day I came out with a great feeling inside of me knowing I got for what I payed for. Fast foward to now. I now pay an extortionable amount of money for a ticket and then going to take out a personal loan for a bucket of popcorn and a drink, then upon the ending of the movie I sit and think, wow...'they really f**kced that one up', sure there was some good concepts and after all the 2 movies before it were alright, but thats the point, the 2 movies before it WERE good!, what the hell happened to the 3rd!?
who knows!? but there is something positive I can say about trilogies. It's called
Oceans 13
The first, wow, amazed me through and through and the 2nd, meh, wasn't fussed and didnt see the series going anywhere from there. But sure enough they stuck out a 3rd one, now because of the bad trilogies floating around I thought, I won't waste my time, but I wish I'd had seen it at the movies. This singular movie is redemption for new-age trilogies - the bad ones. Theres a bunch of good ones, but their old school, wanna see a good trilogy? Go and buy/hire the 3 of
Back to the future or Indiana Jones, These are what made trologies king, not this new crap thats killing the movie industry.
But back to Oceans 13, see it, touch it, kiss it, squeeze it, f - ....never mind but this movie is great, it completely revives the 'Ocean's' feel for this trilogy of movies. It brang everything back to were it should be and had me laughing, smiling and thinking throughout the entire film - remember the first one? if you do you'll understand that feeling you got right at the end. Trilogy films I have yet to check out are the Bourne Ultimatum - hopefully it won't kill the series as other companies seem so intent on doing.
Rant Out.
yeah, the only cool third movie is star wars. but its actually the 6th... just george lucas is all over the place.
